Belgium along with Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku says he believes Serie A is currently shooting action on racism – and he wants the FA to follow suit.
This season the former Manchester United striker was exposed to monkey chants from the audience.
He responded with an Instagram post, in which he called for action – adding that’rather than going forwards, we’re going backwards‘.
Premier League players have suffered racial abuse this season, with players such as Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham after failing to convert penalties targeted online.
And speaking after a performance in a win for Belgium over Scotland on Monday, Lukaku revealed his call by the ruling bodies of football for activity.
„What I said was brief but powerful, everybody understood,“ said Lukaku. „Now I believe Serie A is shooting action, I’m hoping UEFA and FIFA is going to be next, and also the FA as a lot of my buddies, they perform in the Premier League.
„They have been going through it as well on social media. It is something which must happen also in the united kingdom, but for me personally right now I just need to focus on my performances“
